Potty time

August 25, 2007

Okay, so no cheating this time. Noah sat on the potty and peed. I coaxed him onto the potty with the tub crayons. He sat on his seat and I doodled shapes on the toilet seat. After he erased all of the shapes, he asked for the crayon “I hold it” and proceeded to draw on the seat himself. Than he stopped, looked down, and watched himself pee. I thought the first time was exciting and all he really did was stop his pee as I transferred him from the tub to the toilet, than continued peeing in the toilet. This one was legit. I’m so proud!!! Oh yeah, and when Becky was over earlier, Noah showed her the sign for “library” (“L” fingers in a circle). He’s such a genius.

Flying solo

August 23, 2007

So Noah and I have been solo for a week. That’s about 3 days longer than any previous daddy-less stretch and we’re feeling his absence. Noah has been a little angel of a boy for most of the week. We’ve been cuddling watching Baby Einstein (I just read it actually inhibits language- like that’s why we have him watch it) and yesterday he gave me the very first real kiss I’ve ever gotten. He used to give me this open mouth drooly thing but now I’m getting about two cheek kisses a day (with about 20 requests for kisses). We’re working hard on saying “no thank you” because that “no” of his is getting pretty forceful, and whiny. And by the way, he’s still saying “I fun Darby. I fun Trevor.” Oh, and, as predicted, the rocking with mama stage is over. He no longer cares to be rocked. It was fun while it lasted.

On the road again...

August 12, 2007

We’ve been a busy bunch lately and Noah has been taking his show on the road. He’s quite a hit in a big group (any size for that matter) and he has less use for us now than in the past. At a wedding for one of Tim’s co-workers, he didn’t know a single person but that didn’t stop him from making the rounds. Ditto the family reunion with over 100 new faces. I was lucky if he sat with me for a minute. And weeks after our camping trip with friends, Noah is still saying “I fun Darby”. “I fun Trevor”. My favorite thing that he’s saying right now is “right there” (pronounced “dite dere”. He’s figuring out that he’s saying it wrong so when I repeat back “dite dere” he says “right dere”. Sometimes he’ll even combine the two “dite dere right dere”. Why does he have to grow up? We’ve decided that we need to watch the language now that he’s imitating EVERYTHING. He was out playing basketball with Tim and said “watch this”. After he missed, he said “Oh jeez!”.
